Cycling
Bikes -either mountain (VTT) or electric can be hired from Togosports or Intersport - both in Saint Martin. There are further options in shops in Les Menuires.
If you buy a lift pass you can take the mountain bike on to the St Martin 1 and 2 to the top of the 3 valleys. There you have access to various different mountain bike trails. Just a word of caution - these are suitable for mountain bikers but not for family/ children groups. Protective gear is recommended , even on the easy (green) routes as they are mainly dust and gravel.
More leisurely routes for families are possible along the River Doron. If you catch the 9:30 bus from the centre of Saint Martin it has a trailer on the back for bikes and will take you all the way to Val Thorens for free. Our favourite route is to catch the bus to Place de L'Eau. Take the children round the lake on the children mountain bike track and then cycle back to Saint Martin along the beautiful River Doron.
If you like road cycling you can cycle down to Moutiers and try the Tour de France route from there up to Val Thorens (if you have the legs). Alternatively, a lovely morning ride is to head across the valley to Le Chatelard and cycle up to the Gitamelon refuge.
Walking
Catch the lifts up to the top of the 3 valleys and you can walk to Les Menuires, Meribel, Courcheval and Val Thorens. The views are fantastic.
From the chalet a short but steep uphill walk can take you to the Restaurant La Loy.
If you head for Le Plan de l'eau in Les Menuires it's a 1 hour uphill walk to Le Lac du Lou. Definitely worth it and there is a lovely refuge where you can get food and drinks at the top.
Other activities
If you purchase the multi-loisirs card you get free access to the lifts and discounted access to other activities in the valley.
Archery, visits to farms, paragliding, the Foret d'adventure climbing trail are a few of the things that we have tried.
The closest swimming pool is in Les Menuires.
